George Michael's sister left mere fraction of inherited fortune behind after tragic death
It has since been reported she was laid to rest at Highgate Cemetery alongside her brother George's unmarked grave and that of their mum Lesley. Her 2020 funeral had been attended by George's fellow Wham! star Shirley Kemp, and her husband Martin Kemp, formerly of Spandau Ballet. They were accompanied by their I'm A Celebrity star son Roman, who hosts his own Capital FM breakfast show.Melanie, who is outlived by an older sister named Yioda, got together with her and their dad Jack to make a public statement about how much George meant to her before her death. As she typically kept a low profile in comparison to her celebrity brother, despite accompanying him to countless Wham! shows, the words were the last fans heard from her."We have come full circle again and Christmas time (and the holidays), are upon us once more," she wrote, dedicating the message to everyone who knew her - and even their pets."I think we as a family, (there are lots of us, we Greek Cypriots, we're everywhere)!! have come to fully appreciate (although we already knew really), quite how much love there is out there in the world, for both [George] and his beautiful music," she added."We know how much his lyrics can offer support when things are tough and help celebrate when times are good and life is going well."That is just as powerful now as if he were still with us and as many of you say in your messages, it's a gift," Melanie emotionally gushed.Sadly, she would not return to public life after her last statement in honour of her brother.Meanwhile, her last media interview - conducted just a month before her death - revealed her anger with Elton John's suggestion her brother felt "uncomfortable" with his gay identity.Elton had told Sharon Osbourne on

You w****r!'"I'm thinking 'Where did that come from? Ro, calm down!'" he cringed, adding that he had been trying desperately to remain incognito due to having a major role on BBC soap Eastenders at the time."I didn't want people around me [to recognise me, but] Roman had none of it."He was having a discussion with 20 people around him trying to right some wrongs offside and shouting at people," he chuckled. However, he added fondly: "He really came to life when he went to football, so I loved taking him there."He described "sitting on the terraces with your boy" as an important part of their father-son bond and something that he would "dream" of doing. Then he mischievously admitted: "Also, when I first used to take Roman to football, it was the only place that I would let him swear."As Kate roared with laughter, he admitted that the adrenalin of watching the stars dart around on the pitch was "the only place where [a young Roman] felt like a man".He also came alive around the dinner table - and while the rest of the family ate, Roman and his godfather George Michael would have animated discussions that went on long after everyone else had left.Exclaiming with admiration that his son had only been 12 years old at the time, he admitted: "Everyone would walk away [after the meal] apart from George and Roman."[They] would be having the biggest debate [and] George would
