Roman Kemp has presented lots of TV shows from The Hot Desk to Britain Get Singing, The Brit Awards, and of course he is the stalwart of The Capital Breakfast Show.

Now, Roman’s turning his hand to quiz shows but admits his first day filming was ‘horrendous’. 30-year-old Roman joins Blue Peter presenter Sarah Greene for the new BBC daytime quiz show, The Finish Line. “It requires me to speak at a million miles an hour, the quiz questions are so quick,” confesses Roman when talking to OK!. “I remember during the first day, we shot in Belfast, and it’s my first quiz show as the host, I feel like an adult.

And I was so bad, horrendous." “I remember just leaving the studio calling my mum and dad," continues Roman. "I remember being on speakerphone and just saying to them 'I’m rubbish, I can't do it'.” Luckily, Roman’s dad and ex-EastEnders actor and Spandau Ballet band member Martin Kemp pushed him to not give in at the first hurdle. “My dad was like, ‘Roman, when you put the phone down,’” explains Roman. “He said, ‘go to bed - the best thing you can do is forget about today and tomorrow you can start again'.The next day came, and for some reason we just started nailing it.” The first day of work really got to Roman and it wasn’t only his dad who stopped him from throwing in the towel, but co-host Sarah also told him to say put. “On where I was bad and I'm harsh on myself, right?” he says. “I’m my worst critic - if I'm rubbish, I'll tell you I'm rubbish.
