ITV Coronation Street star quits soap after 15 years as it is 'time to move on'
Coronation Street's Simon Barlow, played by Alex Bain, is reportedly leaving the ITV soap after 15 years, after he first joined the show as a seven year old Simon in 2008. A source claimed that while Alex is "sad to be leaving", he is "excited about the future".They told The Sun: "Alex is sad to be leaving Coronation Street because it really is like a family - but he realises that the time is right to move on," adding, "He's very excited about the future and other opportunities." Since he first stepped foot on the Corrie cobbles, Alex has been at the centre of some gripping storylines, including domestic abuse and a dramatic plot where he lashed out at his cousin, Amy Barlow.
