Coronation Street star Colson Smith announced he is being axed from the ITV soap after 14 years on screens. The actor, 26, plays the role of PC Craig Tinker on the show but will be leaving the famous cobbles later this year.

Colson, who joined the show back in 2011, confirmed that he was told he would be written out of the show in Autumn last year.

Just a child, he was cast as Craig in the popular Manchester ITV soap, the son of Beth Tinker played by actress Lisa George.

His character's storylines on the cobbles have included a battle with OCD and becoming a police officer. In a social media post, shared to X and Instagram on Monday (January 6), he said: "Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker's time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025. "I've loved every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world.
