Glastonbury Festival is officially underway, with all the action kicking off across the main stages from Friday, June 23.

Glastonbury is back for its 51st edition this weekend. Hundreds of thousands of music fans are soaking up the action at Worthy Farm as the first full day of music gets underway.

Emily Eavis has revealed that Sir Elton John finally performing on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury is the event she is really looking forward to during this year’s festival, saying: "I think that’s going to be a very special moment for everybody." The Rocket Man singer, 76, is due to close the festival on Sunday night for what has been billed as the final UK show of his mammoth farewell tour. Glastonbury festival site, officially kicking off this year’s festival.The gates officially opened at 8am this morning (June 21), permitting entry to ticketholders who have been arriving at the festival site since 4pm yesterday (June 20). Emily Eavis was in attendance to welcome festivalgoers and there was a queue snaking around the site with people at the front telling NME they’d been there since yesterday afternoon.As the gates opened Eavis declared: “Welcome to Glastonbury,” before she did a countdown to huge cheers.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band have announced further support acts joining them at their BST Hyde Park Shows.Announced today (June 16), the newly-announced acts will join The Boss for his upcoming shows in London on Thursday July 6 and Saturday July 8.
