Last year’s winners included “Help” writer Jack Thorne, “It’s a Sin” showrunner Russell T. Davies and comedian Graham Norton, who was honored with an award for Outstanding Contribution to British Television. Entries have now opened for next year’s awards, which include three new categories — Comedy Drama, Supporting Actor – Female and Supporting Actor – Male — in recognition of the supporting performances from the acting community over the past 12 months.

Mitchell and Webb’s ‘Back’ sitcom is getting a US remake

David Mitchell and Robert Webb’s sitcom Back is set to receive an American remake at the hands of HBO.The show premiered on Channel 4 in 2017, and was followed by a second season in 2021, following lengthy delays from Webb’s heart surgery and then COVID-19.Mitchell played Stephen Nichols in the show, a 42-year-old who is set to take over the family pub in Stroud, Gloucestershire after the death of his father. However, his plans are interrupted when Webb’s Andrew Donnelly, Stephen’s estranged foster brother, returns and causes family tension.Back was created by Simon Blackwell, who has also worked on Peep Show, The Thick Of It, Veep and Breeders, and now it has been confirmed that Blackwell is working on the HBO remake of the show.In an interview with Deadline, Kenton Allen, the CEO of Big Talk Studios, which oversaw the Channel 4 version, confirmed the news that the US version is in the works.Meanwhile, last year, NME caught up with Mitchell and Webb about the 20th anniversary of their previous Channel 4 sitcom Peep Show.

‘The Outlaws’ Picked Up for Season 3 at Amazon Prime Video and BBC One

BreAnna Bell “The Outlaws” has been picked up for a third season by Amazon Prime Video and BBC One. As the latest addition to the Prime membership, the third season will be available in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Nordics. Sony Pictures Television Appoints Big Talk’s Matthew Justice as EVP & Head of U.K. and Europe

Manori Ravindran Executive Editor of International Sony Pictures Television has appointed Matthew Justice as executive VP and head of U.K. and Europe. In the newly created role, he will report into Wayne Garvie, president of International Productions. Justice will directly manage SPT’s international studio operations and European co-productions business, as well as work closely with SPT International Production’s wholly-owned and joint venture production companies in the region, which includes Bad Wolf, Eleven Films and Left Bank Pictures. Justice most recently served as managing director at ITV Studios-backed Big Talk. He will start at SPT later this year.
