Leonard Cohen is on the way later this year.Blue Note Records will release ‘Here It Is: A Tribute To Leonard Cohen’ on October 14. It will feature covers from the likes of Norah Jones, James Taylor, Nathaniel Rateliff, Peter Gabriel, Iggy Pop, Mavis Staples and more. On Friday, Mike Hadreas a.k.a. Perfume Genius will share his new album Ugly Season. The new music was created more collaboratively than ever before, beginning as a soundtrack for a dance piece by Kate Wallich and Hadreas called The Sun Still Burns Here with producer Blake Mills and Hadreas's partner Alan Wyffels contributing to the composition.

Iggy Pop has led the tributes to the guitarist Ricky Gardiner, who has passed away at the age of 73.The Scottish musician’s death was confirmed last night (May 15) by Tony Visconti, who told his Facebook followers that he was informed of Gardiner’s passing by his wife Virginia.“Another guitar genius and personal friend passed into the next world last night,” Viscontii wrote. “Ricky Gardiner, who joined David Bowie for the albums ‘Low’ and Iggy Pop’s ‘The Idiot’, ended a long battle with Parkinson’s.

Rock 'n' roll star Liam Gallagher has allowed cameras behind the scenes as he records in the studio with his sons Lennon and Gene for a new documentary film. Films starring Keanu Reeves have been removed from streaming platforms in China following the actor's support for Tibet.Chinese streaming platforms including Tencent Video and iQiyi have taken down films and video content featuring Canadian actor after he participated in a Tibet-related concert organised by a non-profit founded by the Dalai Lama.Reeves, 57, took part in the virtual concert alongside Laurie Anderson, Patti Smith, Cyndi Lauper, and Iggy Pop on March 3.Chinese nationalists are said to have protested the actor joining in on the concert.The actor's acclaimed blockbusters including the Matrix and John Wick franchises, as well as Speed, were among the films that have been removed. Keanu Reeves‘ films have reportedly been pulled from several streaming services in China.The Los Angeles Times reports that Reeves’ films have been removed from major streaming services in the country such as iQiyi, Tencent Video, Bilibili, and Xigua Video.Deleted films on iQiyi include The Matrix trilogy, Speed, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Something’s Gotta Give and The Lake House.The Los Angeles Times report that at least 19 films were removed from Tencent Video while Youku and Migu Video now house only Toy Story 4, in which Reeves voices a character.NME has reached out to representatives of Reeves for comment.It comes after Reeves attended at the 35th annual Tibet House Benefit Concert on March 3. The actor participated in the virtual concert alongside Laurie Anderson, Patti Smith, Cyndi Lauper, and Iggy Pop.The event once again featured artistic direction from composer Philip Glass, who was celebrating his 85th birthday at the event.
