Adolescence’s reign at the top of the UK Netflix charts has ended, as a true crime hit has taken its place in the number one spot.Since its arrival on March 13, the drama, about a father (Stephen Graham) whose world is turned upside down when his son is accused of murder, has rarely been out of the headlines.Hailed for its storytelling and prompting discussions about toxic masculinity in society, producer/star Graham has said he had “no idea” of the impact that it would have, and that he and partner Hannah Walters are already in talks for a follow up.However, according to today’s (April 3) daily data from the streamer, the show has been usurped by the documentary series Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer. Released on March 31, the series tells the story of the Gilgo Beach serial killings, told from the perspective of loved ones and victims. The series of killings claimed over 11 victims from 1993 until 2011.
