Coronation Street star Charlie Lawson slams soaps for being 'woke' and 'box-ticking'
Coronation Street star Charlie Lawson has slammed British soaps for 'ticking boxes'. The actor, who portrayed imprisoned Jim McDonald, appeared on GB News alongside former fellow Weatherfield resident Sherrie Hewson and Brookside's Tina Malone.Charlie, 62, was quizzed by broadcast Dan Wootton on "wokeness" and admitted current soaps don't "reflect reality".The actor argued that viewers would "start to switch off" from watching soaps as bosses choose to tick boxes. He admitted to feeling a sense of despair over the constant stream of "new things that you can and can't do".It came as Dan chatted to Charlie and fellow soap stars in the wake of June Brown's death.Charlie raised that many viewers are being extremely tight-lipped about what they want to watch and are afraid of calling soap bosses out.He told GMB's Dan: "We're great at being a silent majority in this b****y country over a great deal of things and I try not to be, to my detriment."There's always new things that you can and can't do and I despair and that goes across society in my humble opinion." He raged: "I hope to god that Corrie and EastEnders or whatever, Emmerdale Farm are around in 10 years but I think people start to switch off because boxes are being ticked with such heavy black ink and I mean that across the whole television industry."There is a silent majority out there who just want to say, excuse my French, they want to say, 'B******s to that, I want to watch what I want to watch'." During his stint on Coronation Street back in the late 90s, Charlie's character became temporarily wheelchair-bound following an altercation with son Steve in 1998.

Prince Harry slammed for 'cruel and unforgivable' act by Thomas Markle after Philip move
Megan Markle's father Thomas Markle has taken a swipe at Prince Harry after it was revealed Prince Harry will not be in attendance at his grandfather Price Philip's memorial. The late Duke of Edinburgh's service will take place later this month but his grandson Harry won't be there and a reason hasn't yet been given.Discussing the event during an interview with Dan Wootton on GB News, Thomas claimed Harry was doing the "cruellest and meanest thing" by failing to attend the memorial.Appearing via video link from his home in Mexico, Thomas expressed: "I think it's the cruellest and meanest thing he could do and I have no respect for this man at all."To not go and honour his grandfather and then not got to the jubilee to deny the children to the Queen."It's unforgivable," he added. In January, news broke that Prince Harry pursued a legal challenge against the Home Office over his security. But Meghan's father believes it is "crazy" if this is the main reason for the Prince's no show while adding that he will be going to the Invictus games. He continued: "The complaint about security is crazy, there would be tons of security around them, he's just making up excuses."Then the other thing is he's going to the Invictus games."The director of photography also shared his thoughts on how the Queen might feel regarding Harry's absence and said she would be "hurt" while stating that he has "no respect" for his son in law.

Caroline Flack's ex-fiancé Andrew Brady jailed after harassing GB News host
Caroline Flack's ex-fiancé Andrew Brady has been jailed for four months after admitting to harassing GB News host Dan Wootton. The former Apprentice star previously admitted to a campaign of harassment against Wootton, with a judge telling him: “This must stop.”Judge Jeremy Richardson QC, sitting at Sheffield Crown Court, said Brady’s claims that Mr Wootton was in some way responsible for Miss Flack’s death were “wholly irrational”, noting that the former executive editor of The Sun was actually a friend of the Love Island presenter, who died in 2020.Judge Richardson told Brady his attacks on Mr Wootton, a MailOnline columnist, had “everything to do with your craving for celebrity status and your irritation that the press were not in the least interested in your somewhat uninteresting life.”Brady, 31, of Cross Bedford Street, Sheffield, admitted harassment at a hearing earlier this week and was on Friday jailed for four months.Judge Richardson noted that, given the time the defendant served on remand, he would be released in the “very near future”.He imposed a 10-year restraining order banning Brady from contacting Mr Wootton, posting anything about him online, or going within 200 yards of his home or workplace.Describing some of the social media posts and messages about Mr Wootton as “utterly outrageous”, Judge Richardson warned Brady he faces a prison sentence measured in years if he breaches the order.Brady admitted at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday (February 2) that he had harassed the journalist on social media between February and April in 2021.He branded Wootton a murderer and sex offender in online messages. He had also told the television presenter that he would "settle the matter by violence".Following the
