A pensioner is still fighting for life in hospital following a crash involving a Mercedes. The 75-year-old woman is in a critical condition after the collision, which happened on Wellington Road, in Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside.

Emergency crews were scrambled to the scene at around 2.10pm yesterday (December 18) to reports of a collision between a Mercedes and a pedestrian. The driver of the Mercedes remained at the scene to assist police with their enquiries. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
