Cristiano Ronaldo netted his first goal of 2022 on Wednesday as Manchester United snapped out of a three-game winless run with an important 2-0 victory over Brighton.
It was a far-from vintage display for Ralf Rangnick’s side, with the Seagulls proving to be a tough and robust unit to overcome, particularly before Lewis Dunk’s red card.
However early in the second half, some good pressing from Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes led to a costly turnover for the visitors deep inside their own half.
Ronaldo latched onto the resulting loose ball and drove at the Brighton defence before firing his effort past the hapless Robert Sanchez.
