Palestine flag flown over Scots council headquarters to mark UN 'solidarity day'

Palestinian flag has been flown outside a Scots council headquarters today. Aberdeen's town house was adorned with the black, green, white and green symbol to mark UN International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

Aberdeen's Lord Provost Barney Crockett decides on which flags are flown from the historic granite building on the city's Union Street.

He flew the stars and stripes during a visit from the US ambassador to the UK Woody Johnson to the city and the Union flag is flown most days.The Palestinian flag was flown above Glasgow's council headquarters in 2014 - in a move provoked criticism of 'gesture politics' from some circles while others supported the flying of the symbol.Palestinian Bahaa Edin Mahmoud, a business-owner.
