World's oldest dog has a bath and car ride to celebrate record being verified
dailystar.co.ukdog with a pedicure and bath.After reaching the big age of 20, TobyKeith's owner, Gisela Shore began to wonder if any dog alive had spent longer on the planet.Guinness World Records caught wind of TobyKeith's impressive amount of times around the sun and on March 16 this year verified him as the most senior pooch around aged 21 years and 66 days.The small elderly lad from Greenacres in Florida, US was treated to a day of pampering by Gisela on learning of his record which is the equivalent of 100 dog years.Gisela told Guinness World Records that TobyKeith celebrated the news with a bath, getting his nails trimmed and going on a car journey as a special treat."It definitely brought a big smile on my face," Gisela said.Born on January 2001, TobyKeith started life with an old couple who soon realised they could no longer keep up with the demands of a puppy.That is when Gisela stepped in to adopt him from an animal shelter when he was still just a few months old.She said: "I was a volunteer at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue and one of the employees told me about an elderly couple trying to surrender a puppy because they could not take care of him any longer.""I met with the elderly couple and I was introduced to a tiny tan Chihuahua.
They had named him Peanut Butter. I later changed his name to TobyKeith."Gisela has spent the past two decades with TobyKeith who is kept young thanks to Luna a seven-year-old American Bulldog and Chinese Crested dog Lala, three.The wild household is also made up with two parrots who make even TobyKeith seem young.
Coco the Umbrella Cockatoo is 28 and Coqui, an African Grey has hit 32.TobyKieth loves to play with Luna and Lala, but she has struck up a surprising special bond with Coco who she often.
