A high-ranking officer from Greater Manchester Fire Service said to be "a natural leader" has been found dead. Tributes were today paid to Assistant Chief Fire Officer, and father-of-two, Steve Morgan.
Described as an "outstanding" firefighter and "dedicated and principled man" flags were flown at half-mast yesterday as a mark of respect at stations across two counties.
Aged 49, he had only joined GMFRS in spring after serving with the Lancashire Fire Service for more than 20 years. He was Director of Service Development, Brigade Management, based at fire service HQ in Pendlebury.
