James Cameron has revealed the official title of Avatar 3.The director made a surprise appearance alongside the film’s lead stars Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington at D23, the biennial convention for members of the official Disney fan club, in California on Friday (August 9).Cameron told a 12,000-strong audience the title for the new film is Avatar: Fire And Ash.The third film is set for release on December 19 2025, following 2009’s Avatar and sequel Avatar: The Way Of Water, which was released in 2022.“The new film is not what you expect, but definitely what you want,” Cameron said.He went on to say it was “too soon” to share footage but let the audience look at “cool concept art” which featured characters in the sky surrounded by fire.Cameron added: “There are new cultures and settings and creatures, and new biomes.
