When your child is unwell, a trip to A&E seems like the safest option to ensure they are promptly treated. But often, A&E departments are overcrowded and under demand - and children could be seen more quickly and efficiently elsewhere.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust has experienced a significant increase in children attending A&E departments.
They have reported an increase in attendances at Manchester Royal Infirmary, Wythenshawe Hospital, North Manchester General Hospital and the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
Whilst it's understandable for any anxious parent to do what they feel is best for their child, the Trust is appealing to parents to utilise the exceptional NHS 111 service
