During the first lockdown last year Liam Preece kicked football into touch. It was out of character for the huge Manchester United fan who was always bursting with energy.
But a twinge in his knee was so painful he didn't even want to go for walks. His mum, Jodie, took him to hospital, in June last year thinking he had pulled a ligament.

But the cancer had already started to spread to other parts of his body. Liam began chemotherapy at The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
