Oscars viewers were left baffled after they discovered that a live-action version of "Pinocchio" was released. The story of Pinocchio, the wooden puppet who wants to be a real boy, has been retold numerous times since the book was published in 1883 by Italian author Carlo Collodi.

This resulted in it attracting two nominations at the Oscars, one for Best Costume Design and another for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
