Dad deals with Storm Eunice the 'British way' and goes to pub after £750k home wrecked

Storm Eunice by doing the "British thing" and took his family to the pub after their £750,000 home was wrecked by a massive tree.

Dominic Good, 57, said he was in the middle of a conference call when he heard an “almighty crash” and discovered the 400-year-old oak tree had wrecked part of his home on Friday.Fortunately, his family somehow dodged the humongous tree but their detached home took quite the battering after the tree crashed through the roof in Stondon Massey, north of Brentwood.Son Sven also had his Mazda MX5 car “completely crushed” by the branches of the toppled oak.

After overcoming the initial shock, the family decided to go for a pint to forget about the chaos brought by the 122mph gust of winds.

Sven told the BBC: "We stood outside looking at what the storm had done, and my dad had a tear in his eye - and then we did the very British thing, and said, 'Let's go to the pub for a pint."Dominic said his family were "very lucky" that no one was injured and said everything in their home is covered by dust and rubble.He went on to say that his wife Emma, Sven and his son’s girlfriend Anna Parnanen had all been in different rooms of the house working when the tree crashed down.“My son was in the room directly below (where the tree hit) so he actually witnessed it," he said.“He just grabbed his laptop and grabbed the dog and ran out of the room.”The family had predicted there could be some storm damage from the huge gusts of wind but “never expected” the level of destruction that transpired.“I was concerned that a branch might strike the house or something because it was it was incredibly strong wind, but that was something else,” he said.“We were very lucky that none of the dogs or the people that were in the.
