darts screened almost 50 years ago.These days, darts is on TV almost every week, with the likes of Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price competing in the Premier League and other events on a regular basis.
But back in the 1970s, darts coverage on television was in its infancy, with the Indoor League and the News of The World Championship leading the way.
It was during the former of those tournaments - the Indoor League - that Alan Evans, sometimes dubbed the 'Godfather of Darts,' made history by hitting what is widely credited as the first televised 180.
Created and produced by the legendary commentator Sid Waddell, the Indoor League was designed to showcase the best players from pubs and clubs across Britain.
