This is the equivalent of one sex offender for every 818 people aged 10 and over. There were 1,084 registered sex offenders living in the Cleveland police force area - the equivalent of one sex offender for every 462 people aged 10 and over, and the highest rate in England and Wales.
Lancashire, with 2,301 sex offenders, had the second highest rate at one per 582 people, and the rate was one per 607 people in Humberside, where there are 1,367 sex offenders.
