coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Scotland over the last 24 hours. The First Minister also announced that 2,309 new cases of COVID-19 were reported overnight, taking the total figure since the start of the pandemic to 146,024.
1,530 people are currently in hospital being treated for the deadly virus, while 102 patients remain in intensive care. Since March last year a total of 4,872 people have died after a positive test in Scotland.
The news came on the day John Swinney said that the extra lockdown measures implemented recently could be extended beyond January.
