NHS staff battling coronavirus threaten to restrict AE services without correct PPE

NHS staff have written to management and threatened to limit the service to patients in A&E if they're not provided with the correct personal protective equipment (PPE).

Doctors and nurses at Southend Hospital say they will limit the service “to a bare minimum in the hot zone without the correct equipment".

Last week Dr Habib Zaidi, 76, died at the hospital after suffering from "textbook Covid-19 symptoms". His daughter Sarah, a GP, said: "He was treated as a definitive case.

There is little clinical doubt it is coronavirus, the test result is academic." It is not known where he contracted the deadly bug.
