Newcastle United are reportedly plotting a move to sign French midfielder Nabil Fekir from Real Betis in January. The 28-year-old came close to joining Liverpool in 2018 while he was still at Lyon, but the transfer collapsed due to a problem with his representatives.Fekir could potentially now move to the Premier League three years on with Foot Mercato reporting that initial contact has been made between Newcastle and the player's representatives.The French media outlet also report, however, that Fekir is set to be offered a new contract by his Spanish employers following his strong start to the new season.The former Lyon man has addressed his start to the season, interest from other clubs, potential new contract and the failed Liverpool.
