murder enquiry. The woman, 42-year-old Linda Michelle Mesza-Ray, was found dead in the back of the truck at the COA Solid Waste Collection Station in Amarillo, Texas shortly after 7am on Thursday.Police say they have no idea how her body ended up in the truck.
The authorities are currently trying to determine where Mesza-Ray’s body had originally been picked up by the vehicle. Police held off from revealing the victim’s name until they were able to locate and inform Mesza-Ray’s next of kin.Corporal Jeb Hilton from Amarillo Police Department told reporters: “We’re going back looking at the logs where this came from, talking with the driver and going to be looking if there is any video and we’ll go from there on what we can determine”.The facility has been cordoned off by police, and crime scene investigators and detectives from Amarillo Police Department's Homicide Unit have been spotted in the area.The waste facility is normally closed to the public.To stay up to date with all the latest news, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here . The body has been transferred from Amarillo to the state medical examiner in Lubbock for an autopsy, which police hope will shed some light on how Mesza-Ray ended up in the rear of the truck.Investigators have not yet ruled out foul play, according to reports, but they are also considering the possibility that Mesza-Ray had simply climbed into a dumpster and fallen asleep.The Daily Star has reached out to the Amarillo Police Department for further clarification..
