Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Las Vegas’ Sphere will no longer be a one-of-one. A second Sphere has been announced, for Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. No target date for the construction or opening was revealed in the announcement made jointly on Tuesday by Sphere Entertainment Co.

Thania Garcia Julieta Venegas, Vivir Quintana, Diana Rodríguez and Ana Rosa Santiago have been named Leading Ladies of Entertainment honorees by the Latin Recording Academy. The program, created eight years ago, honors and recognizes professional and “socially conscious women” in the arts and Latin entertainment fields who have made impactful contributions and “inspired future leaders,” per a press release. Ellise Shafer “Like Water for Chocolate,” HBO’s upcoming series adaptation of Laura Esquivel’s Mexican literary classic executive produced by Salma Hayek Pinault, has released its official trailer. Set during the Mexican Revolution in the early 20th century, the six-episode series follows Tita de la Garza (Azul Guaita) and Pedro Múzquiz (Andrés Baida), “two souls deeply in love, yet unable to be together due to entrenched family customs,” according to the show’s synopsis.

Another New York-based indie producer Jonathan Daniel Brown, of Party Crasher Films, will also join the partnership for the upcoming film. Jamie Lang Ottawa-based Mercury Filmworks, producer of Netflix’s Annie and Emmy-winning animated series “Hilda,” and France’s La Chouette Compagnie (“Droners”) are teaming to develop, produce and distribute the new original horror-suspense anthology series “Don’t Walk Home Alone After Dark.” Mercury Filmworks will present the project to potential global media partners at Mipcom later this month. Now in development, the 2D-animated series is based on the popular YouTube channel of the same name. Despite having released only half a dozen shorts so far, the channel boasts over 200,000 subscribers and more than 9 million views.
