Mums have been warned never to give babies even a sip of water to help them cool down as Britain battles sky-high temperatures.
As temperatures hit 32C yesterday and could even rise to 34C today during a sizzling heatwave, it is important to stay hydrated.
And while adults and older children should be encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, giving babies even the smallest amount of water could prove fatal.
A sip of water given to babies six months and younger could overload the kidneys, leading to a dangerous condition called hyponatremia.
