A mum has warned other women to be vigilant after a seemingly innocent stretch mark turned out to be breast cancer. Demelza Jefferis, 42, had stepped from the shower when her towel dropped and she noticed a small mark on the side of her chest.

The mum-of-one, from Plymouth, Devon, dismissed the mark at first but then noticed it was actually an indent that only appeared when she raised an arm.

Demelza inspected the mark further - raising and lowering her arm close to 100 times before asking her husband, Gary, to take a look.

After contacting her GP, mammograms and biopsies confirmed she had stage two breast cancer on April 21 - less than a month after she first noticed the dent.
