The new University Collegiate School was officially signed off by the Secretary of State for Education on July 31.The new school will teach pupils aged 11 to 18 and will be built on the university’s campus, next to the University Technical College (UTC).The school is due to take its first cohort of students in September with the new pupils housed in the UTC building until the new school building is finished.The project will include new sports facilities which will be built behind the nearby National Centre for Motorsport Engineering.
This move confirms an initial capital investment of approximately £10m more from the Department for Education. Once detailed planning has been approved, construction work will commence.
