North Lanarkshire Council’s scheme to purchase private properties has seen more than 140 additional homes provided for rent to families.The expansion of the local authority’s open market purchase scheme has boosted the number of council homes available over the last 12 months.More than £11m has been invested in acquisitions and repairs to deliver more homes for local people to live in and to provide additional housing stock in sought-after areas.In the last year that’s meant 143 properties have been turned into homes for rent.The council-run scheme is supported by a £4.2m package from the Scottish Government and allows the purchase of properties to boost affordable housing supply.The project has also allowed the council to progress plans
