Charles Ingram
Charles William Ingram (born 6 August 1963) is an English novelist, computer repairman, and former British Army major who became known for being accused and convicted of cheating on the television game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2001, after winning the maximum prize of one million pounds. Following a lengthy trial at Southwark Crown Court, he was convicted on a single count of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception. He was convicted of an unrelated insurance fraud in 2003, and ordered to resign his commission as a major by the Army Board.

Millionaire cheats scammed the show out of £5million in a more sophisticated plot than Charles Ingram and his wife. The Ingrams have been dragged back into the limelight as new TV show Quiz questions whether the convicted couple - who have always maintained their innocence - were really guilty of conning the show out of £1million.

Famously the married couple planted quiz boffin and accomplice Tecwen Whittock in the TV audience to cough when the right answers were read aloud.

But cheats Keith Burgess, 63, of Dungannon in Northern Ireland and Paddy Spooner, 53, of Bournemouth, reckon they were "bigger" than the coughing scandal.
