golfer Scottie Scheffler has revealed his wife Meredith couldn't care any less about his position at the top of the world rankings.

Scheffler has enjoyed a remarkable start in 2022, which began with his maiden PGA Tour win in February at the Phoenix Open.Since then, the 25-year-old has gone from strength to strength, and after waiting two years for his first ever win Scheffler had three in just over a month, after he followed up his triumph at Phoenix with two more at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the WGC Dell-Technologies Match Play in Austin. This remarkable run saw him move to the top of the golfing world in record time, after taking just 42 days between his maiden win and place as No 1, smashing Tiger Woods’ previous record of 252 days.

Despite the remarkable feat though, Scheffler has revealed his wife was none the wiser to his impressive climb. He he admitted Meredith had 'no idea' that he had been crowned No 1 following last month’s WGC Match Play, adding that she 'doesn’t care' about his ranking.

He told Sky Sports: "I told her that because I want her to be able to experience these things with me, because she doesn't care what I'm ranked in the world, obviously."The American’s rise is no doubt a remarkable one, and it is down to the grind Scheffler has put in after a number of near-misses prior to his maiden win.
