The rail timetable proposed for 2023 will see just one train an hour on the £85m Ordsall Chord and no fast service between Wigan and Manchester.
The Manchester Evening News has had a sneak preview of the draft December 2022 timetable - which is yet to be finalised by rail bosses.
It follows years of compromise for passengers in the north, peaking in 2018 when Northern and TransPennine services were thrown into chaos.
