New Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is reportedly keen on acquiring experienced Spanish playmaker Juan Mata upon the expiry of his current Manchester United contract.
The 33-year-old has featured only three times so far this season for United and is free to negotiate a new deal with overseas clubs from January 1st.
A return to his native country would see him return to La Liga after a 10-year hiatus, following his move from Valencia to Chelsea back in 2011.
According to reports published in the Daily Star, the Catalan giants attempted to lure the 2010 World Cup winner away from Old Trafford last summer, with Mata opting to extend his stay at United by a further 12 months.
