Manchester Arena terrorist and Parsons Green bomber charged with prison officer assault

The Manchester Arena terrorist Hashem Abedi and Parsons Green bomber Ahmed Hassan have both been charged with assaulting a prison officer at HMP Belmarsh, the Metropolitan Police said.

Hashem Abedi, brother of arena bomber Salman Abedi, and Ahmed Hassan are serving sentences for terrorism offences. Abedi, 23, is also charged with assault on an emergency worker, a second prison officer.

The two men are accused along with another man, Muhammed Saeed, 22, of actual bodily harm on the member of staff at HMP Belmarsh on May 11 last year.

Abedi, Hassan, 21, and Saeed are all due to appear at Bromley Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, April 7. Abedi is serving a minimum term of 55 years in prison, for his role in murdering 22 and injuring hundreds
