A man who refused to stop approaching people in Dumfries town centre is the first in the region to be given a £60 fine under new Covid-19 police powers.Superintendent Mark Hollis explained: “I can confirm that only one member of the local community persistently refused to comply with the social distancing measures.“Following repeated attempts to encourage this individual to stop approaching people and stop causing annoyance in Dumfries town centre, officers had no alternative but to issue a fixed penalty notice.“This course of action was a last resort and only serves to underpin our policing approach during this unprecedented time.”He added: “The vast majority of people in Dumfries and Galloway are complying with the social distancing
