Shocking CCTV footage of 'brutal, unprovoked' attack on a man in his 50s has been released by police investigating the incident.

The man was left unconscious after being punched and kicked in the head at a social club in Eccles, say police. He had to be taken to hospital, where he remains, and required 'extensive treatment' for a fractured cheekbone and severe bruising to his face and body, according to officers.

Police were first called to reports of an assault at St Michael's Social Club in Liverpool Road at around 5.56pm on Sunday, May 3.

They are now investigating the incident and have released CCTV footage of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the assault.
