Manchester United have reportedly joined Newcastle in the race for Rennes defender Faitout Maouassa. Maouassa has starred for Rennes this season, having helped the Brittany-based club to third place in Ligue 1 before football was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 21-year-old has mostly played at left-back, but can also play on the left of midfield or on the left wing. And with just a year left on his contract with Rennes, the France under-21 star's versatility is expected to make him a sought-after player this summer.
Newcastle had a £7million bid for Maouassa turned down by Rennes in January last year - and with a Saudi Arabia-funded takeover in the offing, they are expected to be in a position to reignite their interest
