All eyes were on Amad Diallo as Manchester United’s Under-23s took on Liverpool on Merseyside. The winger was making his first appearance for the club since his big-money move from Atalanta for a fee which could eventually rise to £37million.
Diallo certainly made his mark, taking advantage of some lacklustre Liverpool defending to score the opening goal before adding a cheeky paneka from the penalty spot late on.
But it was £300k summer signing Joe Hugill who stole the show with a stunning four-goal performance which takes his tally up to 14 goals in 15 league starts in Under-18 and Under-23s games this season.
