Kylie Minogue has given a heartfelt tribute to the soap which launched her career more than three decades ago.The Aussie pop princess responded to a tweet confirming the sad news that Neighbours will cease production in June. The soap's producers Fremantle announced:“It is with sadness that after nearly 37 years and almost 9,000 episodes broadcast, we are confirming that Neighbours will cease production in June."“Following the loss of a key broadcast partner in the UK, and despite a search for alternative funding, we currently have no option but to rest the show.”This came after Channel 5 announced last month that they would no longer air the show from August.
As they provide funding to Neighbours, it was hoped that another UK broadcaster would step in.Sadly, despite a huge #SaveNeighbours campaign from fans, that hasn't happened yet.Kylie responded to the sad news, writing: "I’ll be forever grateful for the experience & the friends I made on @neighbours.
We had no idea how big the show would become and how passionately viewers would take it to heart. Pure love! I can still hear Madge calling … CHARLENE!!!!"Another Ramsay Street graduate who made it big, actor Guy Pearce, also tweeted his love for the show in response.
He wrote: "I'm so sorry to hear Neighbours will end. Aside from being the incredible launch pad it's been no one can deny the effect it's had throughout millions of homes around the world.
