Man charged with assault after police officer bitten on the face in Longsight

direct to your inboxA man has been charged with assault after a police officer was bitten on the face in Longsight.

Antonio Balde-Djau, 20, of no fixed abode, has been charged with two counts of attempted wounding with intent, assault by beating of an emergency worker and obstructing a constable in execution of duty.

It comes as three GMP officers were injured whilst detaining a man on Stanley Grove on Sunday, 14 February.One police officer was allegedly put in a headlock and bitten in the face, whilst another was left with a broken hand.

Both were taken to hospital and have since been discharged. Mr Balde-Djau has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Manchester Magistrates' Court today (Monday 15 February). .
