The Mirror reported.Katie’s family have been made aware of the charge and continue to be supported by specially trained officers, Lancashire Police said.Her family have passed on their thanks for all the well-wishing messages but have asked people to respect their privacy at this time, they added.Lancashire Police said yesterday the investigation had shifted from a missing person to homicide.The police said: "While Katie has not yet been found, and the search for her is continuing, detectives are now working on the basis that she is sadly no longer alive."Search teams with more than 60 trained officers from Lancashire, North Wales, Merseyside and Greater Manchester Police, with specialist dogs have been combing the Gisburn Forest over the past few days.To stay up to date with all the latest news, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here.Police said a woman matching Katie's description was seen getting into a silver Ford Transit van with a man, outside an address in Todmorden Road, Burnley, at around 9.30am on Friday.The van, with the number plate MT57 FLC, is then believed to have travelled to Gisburn Forest near the Bolton-by-Bowland area.A statement from Lancashire Police tonight said: “Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service detectives from Lancashire’s Force Major Investigation Team have this evening (Wednesday, April 27th) charged a man with the murder of missing mum Katie Kenyon.".
