Man, 50, charged with murder of mum missing for six days

A 50-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a mum who had been missing for six days. Katie Kenyon, 33, was last seen at 9.30am on April 22.It is believed she travelled in a Ford Transit van which left Burnley towards the Bolton by Bowland area.

She had not been seen since, reports The Mirror.Andrew Burfield, 50, is due to appear at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court at 10am tomorrow.

Katie’s family have been made aware and continues to be supported by specially trained officers, Lancashire Police said. Her family have passed on their thanks for all the well-wishing messages but have asked people to respect their privacy at this time, they added.Police have previously said the man they arrested is known to the victim.Lancashire Police said yesterday the investigation had shifted from a missing person to homicide.Lancashire Police said: "While Katie has not yet been found, and the search for her is continuing, detectives are now working on the basis that she is sadly no longer alive."Police said a woman matching Katie's description was seen getting into a silver Ford Transit van with a man, outside an address in Todmorden Road, Burnley, at around 9.30am on Friday.The van, with the number plate MT57 FLC, is then believed to have travelled to Gisburn Forest near the Bolton-by-Bowland area.Katie is described as a white, 5ft9 female with strawberry blonde ginger hair.She was last seen wearing a blue cardigan, light blue and white top, black leggings and flip flops.Police are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen Katie, either alone or with company, or anyone who may have seen or have dashcam footage of the van to come forward.A statement from Lancashire Police tonight said:
