Lionel Messi came close to joining Arsenal from Barcelona in 2003. Former agent Fabian Soldini has opened up on reports that the six-time Ballon d’Or winner was scouted by the Gunners, as mentioned by Arsene Wenger earlier this year.
The French manager had said: “We were in discussions with him when we bought Fabregas because Messi played with him.”Soldini has now revealed the truth behind those comments, and admitted that his former client was left tempted by the transfer after close friend Cesc Fabregas had forced a move away from the Catalan giants.
