Suarez was unceremoniously ditched by Barcelona with a year remaining on his Nou Camp contract as the Blaugrana sold him to Atletico for just under £5.5million.
The Uruguayan plundered 198 goals in 283 games over the course of his six-year spell at the Catalan giants, and Messi was among those to criticise the treatment of his fellow forward.
The Argentine had himself tried to leave Barca this summer, only for the Blaugrana to insist his £624million release clause remained valid.
