Lewis Hamilton’s 300th F1 race wasn't plain sailing for the seven-time world champion, even if it delivered his strongest result of the season so far.As Max Verstappen took victory at the French Grand Prix, Hamilton took advantage of Charles Leclerc's crash on lap 17 to finish second ahead of Mercedes teammate George Russell, who held off the Red Bull of Sergio Perez for third as Carlos Sainz took fifth.
As well as his rivals on the track, Hamilton had to battle the sweltering hot temperatures in the south of France, a task made more difficult as his water bottle didn't work, leaving him dehydrated, as well as happy, after the race.Asked after getting out of his car how much weight he would have lost during the race, Hamilton said: "I didn't look at the number when I weighed, but it will probably be about three kilos [almost half a stone]."READ MORE: Ferrari boss makes 'good performance' claim despite disastrous French Grand PrixIn the cool-down room before the podium ceremony, Hamilton felt the need to lie down in the middle of the floor, with Verstappen having to awkwardly step around him.
Then, in the official press conference, he tucked into an ice pop."That was actually a tough race because my drinks bottle didn't work," he told Sky Sports F1. "I feel fantastic, just a little bit dehydrated.
