Lando Norris given 'world champion' backing by two-time Formula One winner
dailystar.co.ukFormula One champion Emerson Fittipaldi has backed McLaren driver Lando Norris to emulate his career, stating the Brit has 'world champion material'.Norris have five podium finishes to his name so far in his career, though he is still seeking a maiden victory, but is widely regarded to be one of the most exciting young drivers on the grid.
Last September, he was agonisingly close to a first win in Russia but late rain and poor decision making ultimately cost him that glory - though he finished a career-high sixth in the Driver's Championship last term.
It's widely expected that Norris' first win isn't too far away and Brazilian Fittipaldi believes even bigger success is on the horizon. “I think Lando Norris has already established himself as what I call a potential, World Champion material," he told VegasInsider. “I was with McLaren in Jeddah [Saudi Arabia], and Zak Brown [McLaren’s team principal] confirmed that they’ll continue to get better for each race.
