Jurgen Klopp has explained why he dropped Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino from Liverpool's starting XI. The pair have been two of the first names on the team sheet in recent seasons but both had to settle for a spot on the bench for the visit of Burnley on Thursday night.
Liverpool faced the Clarets on the back of a run of poor form which saw them score just one goal in four Premier League games.
In that stretch, the champions drew three games and lost one as they gave up top spot and lost ground in the title race to rivals Manchester United and Manchester City.
But Klopp insists the decision to bring Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri into the attack was due to the heavy workload on Salah and Firmino, rather than the duo's poor form.
