Known as the birthstone for January, garnet comes in many varieties and shades, including grassy-green tsavorite garnets, vivid orange Mandarin garnets, and the dark red variety to which it owes its name.Garnet has been used in jewellery since the Bronze Age and is prized for its healing properties.
