Jamie Carragher has hit back after being slammed for suggesting Chelsea's rivals should try and take advantage of the current uncertainty surrounding Roman Abramovich.
The 55-year-old confirmed his plans to walk away from the Blues earlier this month - just days before he was slapped with sanctions by the UK Government in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Abramovich has enjoyed a trophy-laden tenure since he snapped the Blues up in a £140million deal back in 2003.Chelsea now face an uncertain future in the wake of Abramovich's sanctions - and Carragher has come under fire for suggesting that Manchester United should try and take advantage of Chelsea's woes by swooping for Thomas Tuchel.
But Carragher has not shied away from the leg-up that Abramovich's cash has given the Londoners over the years as the Blues face up to life without their head honcho."I had a few heated discussions at Stamford Bridge yesterday," Carragher told Sky Sports."I wouldn’t change my opinion on it [Tuchel to Man Utd] and the reason why I think it’s a little bit hypocritical of Chelsea supporters is that if teams, whether that’s Manchester United with the manager or people thinking they can get Chelsea players are going to take advantage that they’re in right now."And Carragher went one further by pinpointing some of the occasions that Chelsea took advantage of other teams after Abramovich's arrival.He added: "That was the big thing of Roman Abramovich coming.
